Final damage & calculation: Mechanics and Case study.

Hi all,
I cut and paste this info from the internet regarding about final damage.

Final damage (FD) is a mysterious stat to many players, old or new because the game never really explain much about it.
Before the sea dragon patch, final damage used to be calculated in this way:
Each hit + x final damage
If you have x final damage, you will see an increase of x damage per hit to your damaging skills. So basically, the old calculation of final damage benefits only skills with multiple hits.
However, after the Sea Dragon patch in korea last year (Dragon Nest Infinity patch), final damage calculation have been revamped.
WHAT IS FINAL DAMAGE?
The korean developer gives the following info and examples with regard to the change of final damage calculation in the official update notice:
1. A level 40 player with 300 FD hits another Lv40 target – deal an extra 13 % damage.
2. A level 40 player with 700 FD hits another Lv40 target – deal an extra 50 % damage.
3. The damage boost due to FD is dependant on the level of the target: higher damage boost to lower level targets.
4. The maximum additional damage possible from FD is 100% (double damage)
5. The effect of final damage is nerfed in pvp.
First, it must be noted that now all skills regardless of number of hit, enjoys the SAME % of damage increase.

Recently, a group of players in DN CN have performed a series of test and published the results in duowan.com.

Polynomials curves are fitted through the data for Lv32, 40 and 50.
HOW TO CONVERT FINAL DAMAGE TO % DAMAGE INCREASE?
Simply key in the final damage and the excel spreadsheet will tell you the % damage boost to lv32, 40 and 50 targets.
NOTE: there might be some small discrepancy between the value shown in the spreadsheet and the real ingame % damage boost because the equations are obtained by curve fitting. The error normally would not exceed 1%.
GROWTH OF FINAL DAMAGE
The growth of final damage is non-linear in nature.
For example, from the curve for lv40 target, it can be seen there, the % damage increase curve increases very significantly after the point of inflecton at around 500 final damage.
Before that point, the slope of the curve is actually pretty mild, meaning increase of final damage doesn’t give much increase of % damage inc.
However, after the point of inflection, the slope of the curve grows exponentially. A small increase of final damage gives a HUGE increase of % damage inc, espeically near 700 final damage.
EFFECT OF TARGET LEVEL
Another interesting properties of Final Damage is that the level of the target actually affects the % damage increase too. ( see the figure above )
Final damage give more  % damage boost if your target is lower level.
For example, a player with 523 FD hits a lv32 monster, deal 61.9% extra damage.
The same player with 523 FD hits a lvl40 monster, deal only 21.7% extra damage.
With a fixed FD value, the damage boost reduces against a target of higher level.
The damage boost versus target level curve are shown in the figure below:

From the figure above, it can be seen that for low FD, the damage variation against different level target is very small (refer to the FD = 75 and FD = 228 curve).
However, at high FD value, the curve is very non-linear and varies very significantly with target’s level ( refer to FD = 515 , FD =693 and FD =805 curve).
From the curve, it can also be observed that the damage boost diminishes very significantly against high level targets.
In other words, you will need MUCH MORE FD value against high level targets/monsters to have singificantly damage boost.
For example:
To get 100% damage boost against Lv32 monster, you only need 575 FD.
To get 100% damage boost against Lv40 monster, you will need at least 805 FD.
To get 100% damage boost against Lv50 monster, you will need at least 1313 FD!!!
LIMIT OF FINAL DAMAGE

There is a limit to the % damage inc from FD.
For example, a player with 593 FD hits a lvl 32 monster, deal 100% extra damage.
The same player with a higher 705 FD hits a lvl32 monster, ALSO deal 100% extra damage.
Boosting FD beyond a certain value doesn’t increase the extra damage because of the limit for FD is 100%.
The FD damage inc of 100% for lvl16 targets also confirms this effect. (see the figure above, the lv16 data.)
These test confirms that the limit for % dmg inc due to final damage is indeed 100%.  In other words, the damage boost from FD will not go beyond 100%.
FINAL DAMAGE IN PVP
It is also proven in real game test that the effect of FD is nerfed significantly in PVP. The damage increase due to final damage in PVP is almost negligible.
PREVIOUS MISCONCEPTION ON FINAL DAMAGE

At lv40 cap, it was widely believed that the level gap between the player and the target / monster is one of the factor that affects the % extra damage.
This was proven to be INCORRECT when lv50 cap opens.
The test is a simple one:
A lvl40 player with 75 FD, hits a lvl40 monster deal 2.9% extra damage.
A lv50 player with the same 75 FD, hits a lvl40 monster, deal the same 2.9% extra damage.
The LEVEL OF THE PLAYER HAS NO EFFECT on the damage boost from FD.

Understanding Elemental Damage and Resist.

Dear all,
As i constantly reading latest development of DN in korea and china, i thought this article may be useful to you. Here is it as translate:

Elemental belong to sorceress and clergy class. Let me explain to all, how elemental damage and resist does and what advantage does it offer.

1.Elemental Damage explain:
When a class have 8% elemental damage, example 8% dark then his dark element damage is 8%
Example: A level 50 Force User have 1000 magic attack, 1 gravity ball can hit 900% magic attack + 1000. 
Mean to say, against a defense 0 mob. it can hit out 10000 damage(1000*900%+1000=10000).
If he had a potential elemental dark attack 8%, then he can hit 10000*(1+8%)=10800 damage 
If he changed his potential elemental dark attack 8% to magic attack 5.8%, then he can only hit 10522 damage. (1000*105.8%*900%+1000=10522) 

Truth according to the above calculation, 8% elemental attack is way better than 5.8% magic attack.

2Elemental Resist:
If someone have 5% dark resist. what kind of result are we expecting?
Let's say a force user can deal 1000 dark attack , his opponent wearing 5% dark resist will inflict 10000(1-5%)=9500HP.
If the force user have potential 8% dark attack add in, his opponent wearing 5% dark resist will inflict 10000*(1+8%)*(1-5%)=10260HP.
If the force user have potential 5.8% % magic attack add in, his opponent wearing 5% dark resist will inflict 10522*(1-5%)=9995.9HP.

Conclusion:
1.Those class that have elemental skills should elemental equipments and potential. (Cheaper price, result significant, see above)
2.Clergy elemental usage is almost 100%(even regular attack is count as elemental attack)
Elemental lord element usage is almost 98%(regular attack is not factor)
Force user element usage is: hydrid 85%, pure is 90%.(Light and dark)
3.Recommand crusader, inquistor, elemental lord, dark user, must have to have elemental attack.
4.Recommand inquistor, saint, hydrid force user to have magic attack instead.
5.Recommand guardian, not to considerate elemental usage.

4.Additional elemental informations.
1.Dark/Fire resist:  Can reduce eg. poison damage per tick. The higher your resist the lower it damage is.
2.Light resist: Significant result, 50% light resist can reduce light damage to single digit.
3.Ice resist. Reduce chances to be freeze and frozen time(24% ice resist can make reduce 2secs from 5secs frozen, 28% ice resist can reduce the frozen by nearly 50%.(result significant)

5.FAQ.
1.Can ice attack add frozen and slow time. Ans = No.
2.Can increasing light attack % add the number of electrocute more?
Ans:No. Elemental attack only increase the damage but it does not increase the static duration.

Full details of HydraPope clearing Apo hell with pug.

On monday night, i use my healing priest with 4 unknown to each other to fight apo hell. We are from 4 different guild trying 1st time together. Details of party: EL (wearing full cerb +6, full cerb), SM (wearing lv40 rare+9 body gears, barnac both hand +7), BM(wearing full cerb+8/+9). At first look, i felt this is a gone case group, their potential is mixed up(lousy). But i am desperate to clear my limit before tues nest reset. So i start with them without having any hope.
  1st boss(floating laser ghost) - not bad.. just need to heal the bm abit. 2nd boss(Crystal ball)- Nice. not need much heal. 3rd boss(Banging fireboss)- holy shit. This BM noob! He got banged twice and almost die. Me and sm desperately saving him., no death though. 4th boss(Gunman)-Same thing happen as 3rd boss. 5th boss(Huggy eletric man) - holy holy, is this bm even know how to use keyboard? Die less than 1 min by 1 eye bolt. OMG this BM dun even want to res. Later - Oh no! EL got hugged, sm use infinite edge save EL. Gosh, this sm is good!.3 person clear with 1 death to BM. Final Boss(MrApo with no knee). Less than 1mins BM die, this bm must be trolling and he don't even want to res. Left 3 people fight, we stick together help each other fight off trapping  mobs, the moment we got trapped, we helped each other..everyone except that ghost bm is good at dodging boss skills. full health until boss left 3 bar. Boss spinning at EL at corner, ( i thought she die for sure) then she flame road away. Wow.. she's good! Ok i in trouble, she left me in that corner, nevermind, GLADUS TEK MA! live for another moment ^^. 11mins up boss 1hit AOE...i thought everyone die for sure. Wait... SM save himself and EL... left 1 hp! (Gladus tek ma once again save me at full hp ^^ ). Boss left 1.5 bar! I really excited...unfortuntely SM and EL die after highlander buff used up, i heal them to 1/4 bar.. but no use. At this time there are some confusion, left me to solo boss, but i got trapped and eventually die. Ghost mode the 3 of us res again and fight until boss 1/4 bar left before we die. this time round 4 of us agree to res at same time and fight. BM die immediately less than 5 secs casting 1/2 way through his arrow shower by pink spot explosion. After he die, we kill apo boss. -End of story-

Conclusion: After party this group, i feel that knowing how to dodge boss skills is very important factor in clearing the nest. I have seen full elf set die in minotaur nest, full cerb set die in cerb nest. Those players think they just stand a certain spot around boss they wun die. Gears will only help you to a certain level, but skill and knowledge will take you further. So i hope this experience of mine will open up your mind and don't just depend on gears only.

Harsh weapon prefix/suffix.

There are still many people who do not understand how the harsh work. To start off, i like to encourage all to watch this video from aikiwakazu production.

To sum up my experience:
1)Put main hand weapon harsh(off hand low proc rate), no prefix or low cooldown prefix on amour(if your amour prefix proc, your weapon cant proc harsh).
2)Work best on class that can combo and deal physical damage.SM-Cyclone Slash/hacking stance/infinite edge. Merc-Whirlwind/Rolling attack/Cyclone axe. EL-Flame road/Inferno/HellFire. Acrobat/FU- any skills. Paladin - any physical combo skills eg divine combo. Priest  -not recommand to use. BM can either use restraint or harsh, both work for BM.

Result so far,
1 shot other player in ladder. Clear apo nest hell mode with little or no death and less than 15mins.

This Title requires you to finish dungeons in a party of 4.
1) Harpy Hunter - Clear dungeon with 4 people in a party  - Sigh Canyon Abyss (bunny hunt) Crystal Stream.
2)Gargoyle Master - Clear dungeon with 4 people in a party - Forest Sanctuary Abyss Gray ruins.

Dragon Nest Critical and Critical Resist


Dear Guildies,
Here is the information i found in the internet that might be useful with you regarding critical:

Crit is the damage dealt without taking into account the effect ofphy/mag defence of your target. A extra multiplier of 1.25 is imposed on that damage too.
In battlethe color of the crit damage figure = yellow.
For the sake of the discussion, i call that “Yellow Critical”.
Critical stats in your stats window is a figure that tells you, theprobability to deal critical damage.
The equation that convert the stats to the % probability has been derived and proven very extensively already. (I will link you the formula if you are interested, but that’s not so important).
Now here comes the important point: What then is Critical Resist?
A natural idea that comes to mind, is that Critical resist would reduce the chances of your opponent to deal criticaldamage to yourself.
However, that’s absolutely NOT true. It has been proven also that Critical Resist is actually related to the chance of reducing the critical damage figure dealt to you.
When critical damage is resisted, instead of multiplying the damage by 1.25, a small multiplier is applied ( i can’t remember the exact number, but it is around 0.35).
So, resisted critical damage will be much lower than normal non-crit/crit damage.
Critical damage that has been resisted, will appear whitish, hence we normally call it “White Critical”. If you’ve fought electric ogre in apocalypse or lava golem in Sea Dragon Nest, you will see this White Critical very often.
I hope that clear up the concept of Crit and Crit resist.
Interestingly, the investigation doesn’t stop there. Does higher crit reduce the chances of dealing White Crit?
It has also been proven that 10,000 crit and 20,000+ crit has almost the same probability on dealing white crit on the same target with a constant crit resist.
Therefore, crit resist is actually double edge sword type of stats . It will make your opponent deal alot of white crit if he has very high crit stats, while it is useless against an opponent that has very low crit.
Ok, if you have understood everything that i described, you must be wondering why would the developer allow players to get higher than 10,000 crit if there is a cap of 95% crit chance.
The answer is : The crit chance is dependant on the level of your target (ref1).
Against lv32 monster, 6000 crit stats will net you 95% crit chance.
Against lvl40 monster, 10,000 crit stats will give you 95% crit chance.
Against lv50 monster, 17,000 crit stats will give you 95% crit chance.

Requirement for Manticore and Apocalypse guild run.

Hi all,
The requirements:
Warriors/Acrobat/Dps Paladin - Hp >30k.(ideal 40k) Attack/magic power>2k min.
Paladin tank - Hp> 40k. (ideal 60k)
EL/FU/Priest - Hp >20k (ideal 30k). Elemental dmg >20% / magic power >2k min.
BM: Hp >20k (ideal 30k). Attack power > 2k with at least 8k critical rate min.
Magic BM- not needed.

The reasons we are setting guild requirement for manticore and apocalypse nest run:
1) If you under gears and die too often, you are liability to your team mates. Worst when you get all the good loots. So it's unfair to the rest when you not contributing in run.
2) Save time. Better gears = faster clearing time.
3)When you are alive in run, you can continue to buff team mates compare to when you are dead.

Advantage of  running with guild
1)Run is coordinately with experience party leader mean more chance to clear nest.
2)Flexible loot distribution - we give loot to people who need more(hydra team) compare to pick up group where they roll for everything. (Yes i never roll for magician plate when i physical class- someone ask me before if i can resist the gold.)

Ultimately you need the experience and skill. If we found you unskilled eventually we will leave you out of guild run. Nothing personal, just business.

Hydra super speed leveling guide.

Hi all,
Most people around me are impress with my leveling speed. I take 2/3days to lv32. 1/2 days - lv40. So i thought of sharing my experience with those who may need it.

Lv1-10: Do all hard/master mode quests. Pick up lv5/lv10 gears and enhance to +6~10.
Lv10-15: Collect all quest in carderock. Solo Raider den hard/master mode with board quest Do sigh canyon(prefer party) until no board quest. Lv13-lv15 do sleeper temple. Pick up/buy from TH lv15 green gears and enhance to +8 at least.
Lv16-22: Go carderock ch.1or guild shout for lv32+ warrior/acro to party to go abyss dark magic institue(DMTI) abyss with board quest(41.8k exp). Promise and give them all the loots (Give people motivation to help you). Pick up/buy from TH lv23 green gears and enhance to +8 at least.
Lv22-32: Go carderock look for party or ask 1 lv32+ to help you to do Sanctuary Core master mode(124k exp).Pick up/buy from TH lv31 green gears and enhance to +8 at least.
Lv32-lv40: One and only- Do Dark lord of the training camp (DOTC) - 216k exp. Either do master with other <lv40 or do abyss with lv40(they need revert cube and gifts).

Extra tips:
If you got problems finding party due to some reasons, the follow steps will help you:
Promise and give loots/benefit like gold to to those who boost you,
You always ask for boosts and never offer any help to anyone. Solution: start to help people around you and soon you will find your guild mates and friends list start to help you too =)

This guild was started in October 2011 by Hydra with the support of the veterans. The name "HoYiSi" has no meaning any dictionaries, but it mean "Give people die" literally in Singapore dialect and "delicious" in japanese( hydra like to eat ^^).

The guild is level 9 with over 90 guild members with 50% lv40 members, we are going stronger and stronger.Most of us are online from GMT+8 1600-2359.
